One step forward 1/2 step back

I thought we had Bella on the bottle, so we tried again yesterday and she SCREAMED and SCREAMED and SCREAMED! I finally started to nurse her and she calmed down, then I slipped in the bottle and she was fine, I tried to hand her off to Grandma with the bottle still in her mouth and she FREAKED! So we tried again today and she took 1/2 of it, then when my mom went to burp her and give it to her again she freaked again! AUGH! Any hints would be much appreciated. We have two weeks until Grandma leaves and she has to be taking a bottle.

We went through this with Olivia, and it was not easy! My advice is give her a bottle at every feeding (or at least a couple of times a day) for the next few weeks while your mom is here. Don't give up...she'll take the bottle if she's hungry enough. You might just have to leave the house and go for a walk while she screams! Hang in there :)

I'm so sorry. It is definately frustrating especially when they cry. All I can tell you is to keep introducing it everyday. I heard that with kids they may like something they hated just a day ago. I bet the same is true with babies. Good luck!

I am so in the same boat right now. Bri will do good one day and do horrible the next. The one thing that I've noticed is to not give in and nurse. Let her freak out and wait until she calms down and then try again. It seems if you give in to them they'll learn that if they cry long enough they'll get the boob. Also sometimes if I leave the room so she can't see or hear me she does better. Good luck!

When Lib went back to school in the evenings her ped. told her that she needed to leave the house when Kit gave Gunner his bottle. She said that if the baby hears, smells or sees you then all bets are off and he probably wouldn't take the bottle. Good luck, I hope things work out!

So .. are you saying that Tuesdays are going to suck? Oh well .. she'll take one if she's hungry enough .. or she'll scream the ENTIRE time she's at my house. Great. =o)

Wow! I just viewed all her pictures and I had not seen one since the first one Frank sent when she was first born. She is every bit as beautiful as I thought she would be! Just like you two. Sorry I dont have any advise about the bottle thing. It has been way too long since I did that. I am a grandmother now as your know! I will say my third child would not give up the nursing until 3 years old! So I dont wish that on you, but I really believe you will be just fine, you are great parents.
