Pretend Grandparents and Marriage

When we were driving to and from UT for Christmas we had a lot of time to talk to Bella.  She was asking us all about our lives prior to her.

We got into a discussion about grandparents and so we explained to her (as we have previously, but not in so much detail), that my mom is her grandma, my dad (who's in heaven) is her grandpa, and so on and so forth.  Then she couldn't figure out how Grandma Kim and Grandpa Dan (our next door neighbors) are her grandparents.  So we explained that we aren't really related, but we just call them Grandma and Grandpa because they mean a lot to us and we don't have any near by.  She then went to my mom's house and proceeded to tell her, "you are my mom's mom and that means your my Grandpa.  Mommy's dad and Daddy's mom are in Heaven but they are my Grandpa and Grandma, but Grandma and Grandpa Kim are my pretend Grandma."

She also asked us how we met.  We told her we met at a work meeting.  She thought about it for a minute and then said, "Then you hugged and kissed and got married?"  Yep, something like that.

Recycling

I was cleaning out the fridge and putting all the fruits and veggies that were bad into the compost box. Bella asks me what I'm going to do with that.

"I'm going to put it in the compost bins so we the worms can eat it and we can put it on the dirt. That's how we get pretty flowers and big vegetables in the garden."

"That's called recycling," she exclaims.

"Where did you learn that?"

"I don't know, I just knew it"

She never ceases to amaze me!

5-3 is 2 in case you you change your mind

I came down from changing Grayson's diaper and Bella is in the kitchen "cooking waffles" (all pretend).

"How many would you like Momma?" (I love that she calls me Momma).

"I will have 3."

"Well, I have 5 so you can have that many (showing me her 3 fingers) but if you change your mind there is still 2 left."

I don't know about other 3 year olds, but I think Bella is a genius for knowing that!

A Couple of Whiles

Bella: "Mom are you going to stay home for some whiles?"

Me: "Yes, I'm going to be home for a while."

Bella: "A couple of whiles or one while?"

Love her!

Conversation with Jesus

Bella never ceases to entertain and amaze us with the things she says.

Tonight Frank and I were driving with Bella and telling her that it was our anniversary and that we got married today. She says to us, "That was before I was born when Jesus told me, 'Isabella you are a pretty girl and I'm going to send you to live with Frankie and Holly."

This warmed Frank and my hearts. I don't know where she heard this but the way she said it made it sound like she had really had that conversation with Jesus and she remembered it - who knows, maybe she did.
