I guess this is the fun I've been missing

First of all, I have to say, I've been SO sick!! I don't know that I've ever had this bad of a cold before. I don't think I've ever missed work for a cold. I've had 2 days of just feeling crappy and then three days of TOTAL congestions, and aches, and headaches, and chest crap, and throat soreness. I've really tried hard to not take anything. I think I'm gonna break down and take something tonight. Okay, enough whining.

I've really enjoyed feeling the baby kick. Last night in the middle of the night when Baby had woken me up for the 4th time, I rolled over and told Frank that this kid has his sleeping habits. IT NEVER SLEEPS!!! Everyone says how they can determine a pattern when their baby is sleeping, well, mine just kicks all day.

Last night I was in bed reading and I put my hand on my tummy and I could feel the entire baby, I ran my fingers from one end to the other (I don't know which was which, but it was definitely the head and the bum) and every time I would stop the baby would start wiggling around and push it's whole body back out. It was so cute!

So the joy of pregnancy that I'm just now starting to enjoy? That would be the baby sticking it's foot between my ribs! OUCH! All afternoon as I was sitting at my desk working the baby kept taking either a foot or a hand and pushing SO hard into my ribs. Every time I'd get it to move it'd go right back. I guess this is just the beginning of those kind of fun kicks!

Double Digits and sick hubbies!

Wow! I can't believe that I'm already down to double digits until the baby is born! It's gone by SO fast! Everyone says the third trimester is the slowest, I hope so, because I'm SO not ready for this baby yet! I'm really enjoying being pregnant, I kinda don't want it to end. Sure I have the normal pains and aches and sometimes I feel like my hips are going to break in two, but overall I love it. I'm REALLY feeling the baby kick now. It's laying sideways so it doesn't hurt when it kicks, because it's just kicking my soft tissue, no bones or organs.

Frankie is SO sick! Since I've known him, 3 1/2 years, I've never seen him spend one day sleeping. He went to work at 8:00 yesterday morning, came home about noon and slept until 7:00 this morning! That's when you know he's really bad. He never stops running. I think he has that nasty cold/flu that everyone else has had. His whole body aches and he has a bad cough. Poor guy slept on the couch because he contaminated it yesterday so he didn't want to spread the germs around and get me sick. He's not going to work today, well, one meeting (I told him to cancel it, he's a work-aholic) and that's it

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's day. It's not my favorite holiday, in fact, I think it's kind of a lame holiday. Too much expectation and pressure.

This year Frankie and I gave each other the same thing, without knowing it. We got each other a 4D ultrasound. He beat me to the punch scheduling it though, he had it scheduled for today, I was going to wait until later. He told me we were going to dinner in Pleasanton, but instead we went and got this done instead.

It was so amazing to see the baby moving and mouth opening and all that fun stuff! The baby kept putting it's hands and feet in front of it's face, we really had to wiggle it to get it to move it's hands. When it would it was just for a quick glimpse and then it would put them back. At one point, it put all it's hands and feet up over it's head. We got a DVD of the whole ultrasound, we are watching it right now. Hopefully, Frankie will be able to take a clip of it, so I can post it.Baby had just swallowed. I think it looks like a grimace. Hand in front of the fcaeHere's all of the babies hands and feet together. You can see the right foot and the left hand. At the very bottom of the picture you can see the top of the babies toes.

Here are some pictures of the planting that I did this weekend. This is right as I walk out my front door. Where the calla lily is, is where I transplanted the plant from.
This is my annual bed of alyssum, pansies, and snap dragons. There's some rosemary in there too, but it's not growing much, so I just planted around it.
Here's the plants I took from the front yard to the back yard and the jasmine. Jasmine grows really fast so by the end of summer it will probably be all over the trellis blocking the nasty orange brick.
Here's the hill with the few left over plants that managed to survive being over taken by weeds. Please ignore the ghetto looking ladders they are there to keep the dogs from going up the hill, because the fence isn't done (another job not finished by the landscaper) and they can escape.

Oh what a beautiful morning!!

WOW!! What an amazing weekend. I remembered this weekend why we pay a half a millions dollars for a fixer-upper here in California. Yesterday the temperature was a perfect 68*. It was glorious! I went out to the back yard to do some gardening and weeding when I hear a diesel truck stop in front of my house. My heart skipped a beat. Could it really be? No, way!! I don't believe it! Frank came to the back door and confirmed it. Pedro, the landscaper (who started the 3 week project a year ago) had sent 6 of his guys to come clear all the weeds of the hill. I think I could have cried! I had been back there trying to pull weeds without climbing up the hill and falling back down. My balance is not like it used to be!

So I let them pull the rest of the weeds and I went to transplanting some plants that weren't happy where they were. I managed to get one bed really close to finished. I transplanted about 4 plants and went to the nursery and picked up a pink jasmine and trellis. It's a bed that is right by our basement door and barbeque, as soon as you go out either the kitchen door or the basement door you can smell it. It's SO nice! It has a ton of blossoms that haven't opened yet, I bet in a week it will really smell nice.

I need to start taking before and after pictures. I'll take some after pictures tomorrow, but you really can't appreciate it without seeing the before.

Today was another amazing day. One temperature reading we drove by said 76*! It's Feb. 10th!!

Today we were supposed to work on the baby's room and the bathroom. We went to every hardware store in town looking for what we needed for both projects. By time we got to Home Depot I was so tired of hardware stores that I got lost in the nursery. I got a flat of alyssum and a flat of pansies, along with some other plants to replace the four that I had moved. When I got home Amber and I went for a walk and then as soon as I got back I went to planting. Frank then got distracted (there's a shock) from his project and came and helped me. He hooked up the drip system while I planted for another 3 hours. I can't wait for them to grow! I love that in CA our annuals last from February until November.

Funny story about the drip system. He turned it on, to make sure it was all working, went around the front yard and checked everything, went into the backyard where we had one that had broke and was shooting about 15' straight into the kitchen door that was wide open. About half of the kitchen was soaking wet!

Needless to say, we didn't get much of what we were supposed to get done, but it was a fun weekend just doing whatever.

tagged!

I have a hard time doing these, but I like them because it makes me really think about what makes me tick. So here I go:

Tagged!

Nicole tagged me quite a while ago, but I couldn't think about number 6.
6 habits, things I like to do, or things about myself:

1. Garden- over the past 6 months or so, I've really gotten into gardening. I remember messing around in the yard when I was little, but since I now have a house that I really feel like is a home, I'm really enjoying it. On my blog somewhere are pictures of some of my gardening that I did this past summer. The beauty of living in CA is that you have to try hard to kill stuff. In fact, Frank came in yesterday with a small rose bush that he found growing where we had pulled one out two years ago! Yesterday I spent part of the day moving plants, pulling weeds and fixing up one of my beds. I'll take a picture when I'm done. The landscaper FINALLY showed up on Tuesday after 3 months of being MIA and I told him I was going to climb up the hill to clear it out, he didn't like that idea, so his guys pulled up yesterday morning and cleared all the weeds! I'm very excited by next weekend, I'm going to put down seeds so at the top of our hill we have some CA wildflowers to blend up into the rest of the mountain.

2. Habit: hmmm. . . I don't know that I really have any habits. I used to bite my nails, but acrylic took care of that.

3. I love animals. Almost every kind. I have a completely ridiculous fear of birds. I've never had anything traumatic happen with a bird, I just don't like them near me, and especially as pets. I hate going to the Wharf in S.F. because you basically get attacked by deformed pigeons. Almost every bird that I've ever seen that is a pet, has a sign or a warning that says, careful I bite. Who wants a bet, that doesn't do anything besides, make a lot of noise, stink, and bite people??!? Oh wait, that's almost Bandit. . .

4. I'm a planner. I've realized this more since being pregnant. I have to have things prepared ahead of time. Whether it be for a trip, a baby, my day, whatever. Right now, I'm having a very hard time with not knowing the sex of the baby, because I can't really plan and waiting until after my baby showers to get stuff for the baby. I'm starting to have anxiety over it.

5. Baths- I love taking baths. I could take a bath 3 times a day, if I could, and some days I do! It's the one place where I can just sit and do nothing and relax. I usually read, but it just helps me clear my mind. Frank says it was the best investment he ever made in this house. I think he has used it maybe 3 times, if that! I wish I lived in Europe (or somewhere in the U.S. where I could do it) because then I could have a bath in my hospital room when I'm in labor.

6. I'm a total shoe and purse-a-holic. I have about 50 pairs of shoes and probably twice that in purses. I love them. They never make you look fat!

Now I need to tag 5 people. So I tag: Alesa, Stephanie, Taeya, Celeste, Stephanie H.

Happy Birthday Frank!

I bought this shirt at the mall yesterday. It fits perfectly for where I am with my pregnancy.
Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Frankie! Happy Birthday to you!
What a great birthday! Thanks to all of our friends that helped him celebrate! I gave him the Giants jersey, especially for the game today. I didn't think he would be very excited about it, but he was really stoked! Not only did he have a great celebration with almost all of our closest friends, but the Giants played an absolutely amazing game and he is a VERY happy man tonight! That was a great game, to say the least.

Frank was an absolute wreck the last 3 mins. I wish I would have had my video camera ready. He could be a commercial for sports fans. He is absolutely crazy for his teams, he takes it so personally. Even the people that were cheering for the Pats said that they would have been very sad for Frank if the Giants lost because he is so into it. It's definitely something I love about him. He has that passion for everything he does, not just his sports team. He celebrated so hard that he is now passed out asleep on the couch.

I'm very lucky to have Frank in my life. He's a great husband, friend, partner and lover. I can't wait to see how he will be with our baby. I know that he will be an amazing father as well. Everything he does he does with all of him. He's such a dedicated and loyal person that he will show that to our children as well.

Happy birthday, Baby. I love you!

Game Day!

Whew! Game day is finally here! We spent all day yesterday getting ready for it. Mostly rearranging furniture and picking up drinks and cake. Everyone is bringing an appetizer, so I really don't have much to do.

I'm really hoping the Giants win, not just because we will have a house full of Nyers, but because the Pats are cheats! I'm gonna lose faith in all sports if they win.

Go Giants!
